The Film Museum Amsterdam
Vondelpark 3 Located in the lustrious green Vondel Park you will find the Filmmuseum, which originates from the Dutch Historical Film Archive, founded in 1946 to preserve the film heritage.
The Film museum has an awesome collection of fims( around 52 million meters of film), 40.000 posters, 400.000 pictures and thousands of objects related to the film history, which they have collected from 1946.
Collection The motion picture collection contains more than 32.000 titles. There are a lot of Dutch films, films from the teens, classic European avantgarde, expedition films, footage from the former Dutch Indies and international art cinema. The Desmet collection which dates from the 1910s is an important collection of more than 900 fiction and nonfiction films that reflects the moving image culture of their period.The collection of Dutch films is the largest in the world, with fiction films from 1905 onwards and, among the documentaries, the complete works of Joris Ivens and Johan van der Keuken.
